Beginner’s Mind
Over the weekend, our wonderful yoga studio (Yogalicious) closed its doors. So sad and I have a lot to say about that but this post is to reflect on the class I offered last night at my regular scheduled time…Mindful Monday (location, my backyard). What a gift that 9 students showed up!
Planting Seeds
Planting Seeds
I recently turned 44 and at some point in the last year I decided to create an obscure goal for myself to mountain bike 44 times leading up to my birthday and then do a 44 mile mountain bike ride through Pisgah National Forest.
Recovering from burnout
Recovering From Burnout
My focus lately has been on riding my bike and practicing yoga. Running and swimming have been painful to even think about….I have no motivation for either. Today, I needed to run if I wanted to exercise so I reluctantly pulled on my stylish compression sleeves and laced up my shoes. “Run fast today” my husband suggested.”
Yoga for Artists - May 22, 2022
I so enjoyed teaching the Yoga for Runners class recently and I can’t wait to work with artists (and non-artists) on May 22, 2022 out at Hatcher Garden. The “workshop” will involve an eye meditation where we will sit/center and trace the lines of tree in the distance with our eyes. The idea being that as artists (and others), we constantly focus on things up close and the eye muscles that are trained to see things at a distance, become weak.
Yoga For Runners
This post is a little delayed seeing that I taught the Yoga for Runners class a few weekends ago but that’s how things go with the busyness of life. I enjoyed the class so much. We had about 12 people in the studio, many who were friends and a few new faces. Even though it was the first time getting all of these folks in the same room together, we all had a shared energy it seemed and I realized how much running and yoga have in common.
New Year, Perspective
Monday January 3, 2022
It’s a new year and while I can’t seem to remember to write 2022 (go figure, I’m writing 2023) it is a good time to be reminded of the many ways that yoga can help with goals/intentions/projects. Yoga offers so many tools and today I’m teaching a class where we’ll look at one of those: Drsti.
3 Senses
December 6, 2021
My family has definitely fallen in the cautious category when it comes to the pandemic. We homeschooled our kids for a year and have avoided indoor gatherings. We’re vaccinated and are still wearing masks at stores, even if no one else is. And then, we went to New Orleans for a wedding, leaving our kids with grandparents.
Finishing Projects
Thursday November 4, 2021
Over the last few months, I’ve finished some big personal projects. This weekend I’ll finish up my RYT-300 hour yoga teacher trraining program through Asheville Yoga Center. It’s been a transformative and fun journey and while I’m excited that it’s almost complete, I also feel like there is already a small void.
Mindful Running
Monday September 20, 2021
I’ve run only a handful of half marathons and was sure the last one was my last. I randomly ran 10 miles out at Bent Creek a few months ago and decided maybe I could run another half. So, are we are, a couple weeks out from the True to the Brew run out at Croft State Park.
